Our Process

We believe that the journey to a highly successful outcome is a collaborative one. As a full-service design studio we pride ourselves on our commitment and approach to the entire project process:

We view each project individually and strive to exceed expectations, both in design and functionality. Attention to detail is a high priority for our practice and we are skilled across all aspects of design, construction management and interior design.

As licensed building practitioners and members of the NZIA (The New Zealand Institute of Architects), we work alongside all consultants and contractors to obtain the necessary and regulatory consents based on the requirements of the project. During the course of most projects the professionals involved for a project can include:

Geotechnical / Structural Engineers
Manufacturers / Fabricators
Town Planners
Project Managers
Landscape Architects / Contractors

1 Initial Consultation

Usually done onsite, this consultation helps us to evaluate the scope of your project and start to discuss your needs and brief. Its a great chance to meet each other, chat openly and see if we are a good fit for one another.

2 Briefing

We take this time to get to know you and truely understand your needs and wants to ensure we have a clear and deliverable briefing document which will go on to inform the basis of the entire design process.

3 Concept and Planning

The concept stage is where ideas start to hit the paper! It’s an exciting stage as we start to plan and develop the core concept for the entire project. Here we begin to plan out the full project in detail so we have a clear guideline for the build process.

4 Design Development

With the use of BIM modelling and CAD imaging software we begin to visualise and test our concepts and ideas to scale. This is a great opportunity to refine and adjust aspects of the design to ensure it meets the objective/s of the brief.

5 Detailed Design and Documentation

Our practice is known for the extremely high level of detailing in our drawings. Nothing is left to chance. As the Primary consultant, this level of documentation ensures that the design is translated correctly to the construction team and other consultants involved in the project.

6 Onsite Delivery and Site Observations

As a full-service design studio our relationship with client and the project run all the way through to completion. Regular project and site meetings with key project members ensures that the design intent, materials and detailing are as specified and delivered correctly at each milestone and throughout the course of the build.

7 Install

We pride ourselves in going above and beyond in these last stages of the build to ensure all of those finishing touches are completed with finesse and care to achieve the highest quality result. We work with an extensive network of manufacturers, fabricators and craftspeople and can tailor a bespoke interior design package for your home including kitchens and bathrooms, custom furniture, design elements, balustrades, built-in joinery and cabinetry to suit your needs to ensure a cohesive extension of your homes aesthetic.

8 Handover

Handing over a project to its new family is always a special moment for us and is so rewarding to share in our clients excitement. We love being invited back to these special homes to see how the owners have embedded their own special mark into their homes and see the landscaping developing and maturing around the home.
